I really miss smoking

I am five days smoke free and I effin' hate it.

I don't feel healthier, nor can I breath "better". I just feel like I'd rather be smoking.

Actually, I think I'm more angry with scientist right now. What's up with a cure for cancer? Yall really need to get on that...

so I can start smoking again.

Damn, I really miss smoking.

I'm going to try to resist, but when will the craving go away? It's five freakin' days already!

I know you think I am dead. But I am not.

Dear Celie,

I know you think I am dead. But I am not. I been writing to you too, over the years, but Albert said you'd never hear from me again and since I never heard from you all this time, I guess he was right. Now I only write at Christmas and Easter hoping my letter get lost among the Christmas and Easter greetings, or that Albert get the holiday spirit and have pity on us.

There is so much to tell you that I don't know hardly, where to begin -- and anyway, you probably won't get this letter, either. I'm sure Albert is still the only one to take mail out of the box.

But if this do get through, one thing I want you to know, I love you, and I am not dead. And Olivia is fine and so is your son.

We are all coming home before the end of another year.

Your loving sister,
Nettie

Blue Print for America going to War?

Hermann Goering was a Nazi war criminal. Commander of the Lutwaffe (air force), he was the main Nazi leader tried for crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg Trials, eventually being sentenced to death (he committed suicide right before the death penalty was to be carried out).

I stumbled across one of his quotes last night and wanted to share it with you:

Why, of course, the people don’t want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia nor in England now in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship.

Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for the lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

When I read that I was amazed. I mean, it jumped out, to me, as the blue print for America going to war.

I guess the only people learning from history are the leaders who use it, so it can, as they say, repeat itself.

V for Vendetta

Just saw V for Vendetta. Even though initially I didn’t really want to see it but I was pleasantly surprised.

Of course when you watch it, you can’t help but compare it to the situation that’s happening in the US.

I’m not going to spoil it for people who didn’t see it yet, but I will say, I truly supported the “terrorist/freedom fighter/insurgent” V in the movie.

All I gotta say is, “'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

Oprah DVD & Cheney Accident, I need to be sure...

If you know me, then you know, and yes, I openly admit that I am a huge Oprah Winfrey fan.

Well I’ve wanted the 20th Anniversary DVD since it was released a couple months ago, but as usually, I am broke as a joke and couldn’t afford it. Even though I made transparent hints that I wanted and was deserving of this DVD for Christmas. Of course, to no avail.

But on Valentine’s day, what was waiting for me! Yes, the The Oprah Winfrey 20th Anniversary Collection DVD. Yeah, I know this revelation will probably lose me many cool points, but hot damn I love this thing!

Seriously, I can’t stop watching it. Even the parts I don’t care about, I still watch!

Anyway, my mind is on Oprah right now and don’t have time to think about Vice President Cheney almost killing a man.

Accident, my a$$, someone please investigate, if only to be 100% sure, we can never trust anyone who has a permanent sinister grin on their face. Can't you see it? Look at that smile/smirk. When ever I see him, I feel like I can read his thoughts, and they all say "I love screwing everyone over {insert evil laugh}". I've lived long enough, and I know for sure, people who look like that are not good people.

Helen Thomas - Gangsta!

I like Helen Thomas, a white house reporter for 57 years. She has covered every president since JFK, but now President Bush won't call on her during the press conferences. (DrudgeReport) That is so funny to me. I mean, she's quoted as saying "He's (President Bush) supposed to be this macho guy. He'll take on Osama bin Laden, but he won't take me on."

How true. How true, indeed. I wonder what he's afraid she'll ask? Perhaps about weapons of mass distruction? Iraq? Katrina? Abbramoff? Wiretapping?

I guess he has to come up with answers before he calls on her.

She's one tough cookie, and i hope she continues to be a great reporter. Exposing the truth.

Bushisms for Everyone!

It's that time again! Bushisms for Everyone!!!

Definition: Bushism - a word or phrase, or other grammatical configuration unique to the style of President George W. Bush while speaking publicly and usually extemporaneously.

"I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace."
- Washington, D.C., June 18, 2002

"We look forward to hearing your vision, so we can more better do our job."
- Gulfport, Miss, September 20, 2005

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
- Washington, D.C. August 5, 2004

"I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully."
- Saginaw, Mich., September 29, 2000

"They misunderestimated me."
- Bentonville, Ark., November 6, 2000

And of course the classic Bush saying:

"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"
- Florence, S.C., January 11, 2000
Bush is always good for a few laughs (heh, heh, heh, heh <-- Bush's laughing style)

So much has happened...

I’ve become extremely busy with work and unable to slack off (as usual), so bare with me.

So much has happened in the news, Miers has removed her name from Supreme Court appointment nomination, indictments may or may not come for Rove and Libby, Bush is acting crazy (yelling at people, may or may not be drinking Jesus Juice again), White Sox’s win the World Series (the Phillies HAVE to win eventually), Howard Stern is about to leave the radio, Condi Rice may be or may not be an alien (crazy eyes), Paul Mooney is funnier than ever (making fun of Diana Ross), and I may actually get paid from a client (work stuff).

I’ll be back soon (hopefully) to join the other bloggers around the world to add my two cents, which no one really cares about.

President Bush Impressed Me

President George Bush has impressed me with his Address to the Nation today. I felt he truly wanted to fix the errors which resulted from Hurricane Katrina. I now believe he understands the complexity of the situation and willing to rectify any problems.

The most significant part of the speech is when President Bush said “Poverty that has roots in a history of racial discrimination, which cut off generations from the opportunity of America.” He also said “…we have a duty to confront this poverty with bold action.

For the first time in this administration, they have acknowledged racial issues. And on top of that want to resolve them!

This is amazing, I am truly shocked. Bush may be pulling through.

I will just sit back and see if all his plans actually come to fruition.

Today, I say cheers to Bush, good speech man!

Michael Brown Removed From Katrina Rescue

On Friday September 2nd I wrote Michael Brown is a Tool. I discussed how I thought Mr. Brown was incompetent and needed to be fired. Now Friday September 9th he was removed from leading the Katrina Relief efforts and sent back to Washington.

Mr. Brown was not fired, but just sent back to Washington to run the “big picture” of FEMA. I believe this was a great move by the Bush Administration. Perhaps I was too hasty to say fire him, which knowing the track record of Bush’s administration, he won’t be fired, but at least they took the correct steps to move this unskilled man to the side.

Coast Guard chief takes over relief effort

[ Update ]
Mr. Brown doesn't know why he was removed from directing Katrina's Relief efforts but told the Associated Press, "I'm going to go home and walk my dog and hug my wife, and maybe get a good Mexican meal and a stiff margarita and a full night's sleep, and then I'm going to go right back to FEMA and continue to do all I can to help these victims."

Now how should we take these comments? Is this just a tried man speaking about a chance to get a quick vacation or a man who is insensitive to the whole situation?
Brown doesn't know why he was removed

Philadelphia - Project Brotherly Love

Philadelphia has agreed to help 1,000 families left homeless from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. The Project is called “Project Brotherly Love”.

I have just signed up to volunteer in any manor they may need. Any other individuals in the Philadelphia area, if you have the time, please sign up to volunteer or donate ANYTHING.

If you do not have the money to donate, perhaps we can give a little of our time or at least a prayer.

Not the Time?

When reporters question politicians, “who is to blame for the delayed help for Hurricane Katrina”, they ALL say the same thing, “this isn’t the time to discuss who is to blame. There will come a time to place blame, but not now.”

Why can’t we ask the hard questions and continue to provide relief for everyone? If these politicians have time to sit for an interview, then they have time to answer hard questions.

Why do we have stop asking questions because YOU say it isn’t time? I implore reporters to continue to ask and call them on everything, it’s your job and we expect you to perform it well.

Hurricane Katrina Government Lies

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has repeatedly said they did not expect or know the levees would break in New Orleans. This contradicts the numerous documents which have depicted the exact scenario which took place. A New Orleans newspaper wrote a 5 part special report on what would take place if the levees broke in 2002. [ Read the 5-Part Special Report, 2002 ]

Scientists have also reported frequently about the devastation which can happen if a powerful 4 -5 scales Hurricane would hit the Gulf Coast. I am led to believe either, the government is lying and covering up their blunders or they are extremely incompetent. I honestly don’t know what is better? [ CNN Article - Chertoff: Katrina scenario did not exist ]

FEMA Director, Michael Brown has stated on several news interviews he did not know people are in the Convention Center in New Orleans and he was only aware of the individuals in the Superdome. He also states he only learned of the thousands of people in the Convention Center without food, water, electricity, bathroom facilities, and security Thursday September 1 at 8:00am.

Different news reports have questioned this fact because many news agencies have reported on the situation in the Convention Center and had reports stationed at this location as early as Wednesday. Mr. Brown continued to refuse give an answer to why they did not know of the thousands of individuals, even leaving CNN’s Soledad O’Brien to say “… could it be that our intelligence is better than the Homeland Security”.

With all the miscommunication, early congratulations, and the slow relief I can’t help but be disgusted. Our response to large scale disasters leaves me feeling vulnerable and confused. My confidence in the government to help the citizens in times of need has diminished. If a disasters happens in Philadelphia (where I am located), I know I must truly rely on myself for help and survival. I know I can not just wait for help, because it may come too late. In the future, I believe this will lack of confidence will cause more people to become looters and criminal acts will happen because help may or may not come in time.

I wonder how confident other Americans feel in the homeland security of our great country.
